Nicolas Jeay

About

Nicolas Jeay was born in France in 1993 and moved to Canada in 2004. He studied at the Cegep of Sherbrooke in jazz and grew a passion for composing. He graduated at the University of Sherbrooke in music composition with three mentions of excellence.

In 2017, he wins the first price of the Choral Composition Contest by the University of Sherbrooke; he’s also recipient of the Bourse de soutien à la pratique artistique of the city of Magog. In 2020, he was chosen along with 17 other composers to take part to Au Choeur des Régions and represent the region of Capitale-Nationale and city of Quebec.

Collaborating with organisations such as the Alliance Chorale du Québec, his works are now published and played all around Quebec by professional vocal ensembles,  including the Choeur de Chambre du Québec, the Choeur Symphonique de Sherbrooke, La Petite Bande de Montréal or the Choeur de l’Université de Sherbrooke.

He now spends most of his time composing and publishing his works and teaching piano in private, notably for the Orford Music Academy.
